KPN brings paintings of the famous Rijksmuseum Amsterdam to life via digital signage
Accessible art
In 2013 the Rijksmuseum opened its doors again after modernising the museum and its interior design. To celebrate, KPN decided to launch a special campaign where the art was made more accessible to everyone.

Digital out of home campaign
For an entire week, the train stations were transformed into digital art galleries with paintings coming to life. The interactive digital displays allowed visitors to make a ‘’Rijksselfie’’ and switch places with one of the main characters in the painting.

Behaviour tracking
Guests can upload photos to Facebook via a built-in camera and live connection. The camera also measured behaviour and tracked the number of viewers. Technology designed by CS Digital Media, running on AOPEN Digital Engines.

“We have chosen AOPEN Digital Engines because it provides us with the most stable platform for our interactive applications.”

Campaign results
The KPN campaign was very successful. All displays were monitored 24/7 on performance to make sure that any disruptions were captured and fixed. All incidents were recognized and solved in time with a 100% success rate to ensure full operability.
