successful check-ins without staff help

HotDoc elevates workplace efficiency and customer experience through self-service kiosks.

HotDoc chooses AOPEN Chromebase Commercial 22″ to expand its check-in software to a fully interactive, self-service platform for patients. With Chrome Device Management, HotDoc has full control of its kiosk solution, which has resulted in higher patient satisfaction and staff productivity since the solution has been deployed.

About HotDoc

HotDoc was founded in 2012 and has become Australia’s leading patient engagement platform, which is trusted by over 11,000 General Practitioners. Its goal is to free up time for medical reception staff to do more important work than just checking people in.

Challenge

HotDoc started as purely appointment booking service for health clinics. But the company realised it would be a great idea to expand the platform and enable patients to book appointments and check-in themselves through a kiosk. This meant finding technology that was powerful, easy to manage and deploy, as well as suitably robust and tamper-proof for public use.

Solution

HotDoc started trialling the AOPEN Chromebase Commercial 22” because it is the only Commercial-grade Chrome device on the market. It has 24/7 playability and is designed to be extremely robust and secure, without sacrificing on aesthetics. An extra layer of support from AOPEN, as well as Chrome, equals to a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) for HotDoc.

“We are very impressed with AOPEN’s Chromebase Commercial from a hardware point of view. Also from a software perspective, Chrome OS is technically much simpler. It’s also much more future-proof, as integrations will be a lot simpler for future works.”

Outcome

With the success of the AOPEN solution, HotDoc has plans to expand the platform. It is introducing a digital registration form, as well as an appointment reminder with customers sent a barcode for a quick check-in. Bluetooth will also be used to ping customers when a clinic is close by. Future versions will also offer payments via kiosk and Medicare card swipe.

Chrome OS

The Chrome Device Management (CDM) license also enables HotDoc to enrol their web-based app on AOPEN Chrome devices and provides basic device management to manage their fleet of devices.
